Charles’ Gift
Context: Feat 119 W ½ , Lot 867/ FS 1013. The
feature is a post-1779 posthole intruding a late 17th century dwelling
area.
Context Date Range: c. 1675-1814
Metal: Copper alloy
Tine Length: 0.55”
Leather Thickness: Unmeasurable
Description:
Unidentified openwork motif. Incised lines at each pointed end create
a rough foliate detail. Although the context dates the object as late
as 1814, Feature 119 is a post hole that is located right next to a
c. 1675 structure. This could therefore be a re-deposited 17th-18th
century object.
