Context: Magazine Area Plowzone, Lot 78
Magazine Date Range: c. 1660-1690
Metal: Copper alloy
Tine Length: 0.8”
Leather Thickness: Unmeasurable
Description:
Barbell-like motif. Stamped circles for decoration on each rounded end.
The center may also have had stamped circles, but corrosion has caused
loss of the original surface there. The tines are unusually long for
such a small piece, indicating it was mounted on something much thicker
than a typical strap or it may have acted as a "keeper" to
hold a loose strap end.
