North Devon Gravel Tempered Coarse Earthenware Basting or Baking Pan Vessel 10. Glazed on the interior. Rim, side and partial base of a shallow (2.5”) flat bottomed vessel.  A similar vessel (dimensions 15” x 11”) was recovered at Jamestown and pictured in Watkins (1960:42, Figure 21). The Jamestown baking pan was drape molded with a reinforced scalloped rim and a loop handle.Similar to this mid-17th century basting pan recovered from an archaeological site in Bristol England shown below.
