Traveling Trunk
Eastern Woodland Indian Cultures of Maryland

The Education program at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum created a traveling trunk on Eastern Woodland Indian Cultures of Maryland. Replica tools and objects are combined with prepared lesson plans to provide hands-on programs in the classroom.

This program of nine units and sixteen lesson plans was developed to meet Maryland's current Voluntary State Curriculum for 4th graders, but each lesson can easily be adapted for a variety of audiences. The units cover a variety of topics, including cultural lifeways, foodways, trade and transportation, adornment, oral traditions, games and Native Americans in Maryland today.
