SUMMER SCHOOL IN ARCHAEOLOGICAL CURATION, CONSERVATION, AND COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT
| The summer of
2000 was the first year that
the MAC Lab offered an exciting new class in archaeological and conservation laboratory
work. Field Schools are plentiful throughout the country, but what happens to all
those artifacts and field records after the excavation has ended? Our new facility offers
a unique and challenging opportunity to learn how to process, analyze, conserve and curate
the artifacts collected during archaeological investigations. Offered through St. Mary's College of Maryland this eight-week course provides an in-depth, hands-on introduction to the problems, pleasures, and practices of archaeological analysis, conservation, and collections management. |
|
Lab School Projects: each student worked with an archaeological collection that was in need of upgrading. For each project a paper was written and a webpage was designed describing an aspect of the collection. To view these project webpages just click on the links provided. |
